Payment Terms

Independent Living accepts payment by cheque, cash and over the phone by debit or credit card (credit cards + 3% handling fee). Payment in full is required prior to delivery.

VAT Exemption

VAT law states under notice 701/7 that a person who is ‘chronically sick or disabled’ qualifies for nonpayment of VAT when purchasing equipment for personal use designed for disabled people. A person is ‘chronically sick or disabled if they either:

have a physical or mental impairment that has a long-term and severe effect on their ability to carry out everyday activities have a condition that doctors treat as a chronic sickness – like diabetes for example are terminally ill

A person with a temporary injury like a broken leg for example or a frail older person who is otherwise well and not disabled, would not qualify.

In order to purchase a product from Independent Living without the VAT, you will be required to complete and sign a VAT exemption form. This can be sent to you when you purchase a product and will need to be completed prior to delivery. An example of the form can be viewed below.
